May Retreat is back and better than ever. This year, we have the same youth retreat for youth 12 + at Camp Fircom on Gambier island, PLUS another retreat happening at Gavin Lake at Big Lake BC.
May Retreat  May 18-21
South Location: Camp Fircom, Gambier Island
North Location: Gavin Lake, Big Lake, BC
We expect most youth in the Lower Mainland will likely choose to attend the more local event, but if any keeners are looking to meet new youth at Gavin Lake, they are also welcome to attend May Retreat North.  We will not be offering bursary funds for the northern retreat but will have funds available for those in need of extra support to attend May Retreat South. The bursary form as attached to this email along with a poster for May Retreat.
If you require more information please contact or call Gabrielle at 778 593 1053

We will miss you Doug with all your knowledge of our heating system, our electrical issues, our maintenance and repairs, and looking after preparing for Weddings, Funerals, and special events. We thank you Doug for all your hard work and dedication over many, many years.
However with Doug leaving this leaves an opening for a new caretaker/custodian. Anyone who is interested in this position can contact the church office. (604-792-4634). A resume of past employment history would be appreciated.
Chilliwack United Church is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications form everyone from within and outside our congregation

SPARKS ( Special People Acts of Random Kindness) will be hosting a dinner meal in our church hall on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. for anyone wanting or needing a hot meal on Sunday nights.
People enjoying this meal on Sundays come from all walks of life; seniors just wanting to enjoy a meal with others, to people in need of a hot meal and a place to warm up.
SPARKS is a volunteer group with a history of generosity. They were a very small group that connected through Face Book to help those in need of support and shelter.
We are happy to have them use our hall to provide a hot meal on Sunday nights. Thank you SPAKRS for all you do for our community.

Wear Your Name Tag on Sundays
We would like to encourage everyone to wear a name tag so we can get to know each other better, and to help Rev. Bethan learn our names. If you would like to order a name tag, contact the church office at 604-792-4634. Name tags are $8.50 for a pin attachment and $10.00 for a magnetic attachment, plus applicable taxes.

Food for Cyrus Centre
The Mission Ministry Unit is collecting some food items for the Cyrus Centre house on Wellington Ave. They provide shelter and services for “At Risk Teens” and require items for lunches, specifically, peanut butter, Cheese Wiz and margarine. They also need breakfast cereal. Bring your donations to church for delivery to their house.

Don’t Forget the Salvation Army Food Bank, bring your donations to church and leave them in the barrel in the Narthex.

Toiletries, For Saturday Manna
Donations of SMALL bottles/containers of shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and shaving cream would be most gratefully received. Small packages of toiletries are being prepared to be given out every month at our Saturday Manna Soup Kitchen. Donations can be brought on Sundays, or dropped off at the church office.

Non-Perishable Food Items
The collection of non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank is ongoing. Bring your donations year round and leave them in the barrel in the Narthex.
Thanks to all of you who have donated food in the past and to those of you who will in the future.
